Parts of Brunswick County are booming with development, and they have been for years. But there are still rural areas tucked away in this sprawling county.
That could change, in some cases, if the Carolina Bays Parkway extension comes to fruition.
In today’s StarNews, Reporter Savanna Tenenoff takes a deep dive look at the proposed extension and how different areas of Brunswick County could be impacted.
“With a majority of potential connection spots near Hickman Road and a new shopping center on the way near Carolina Shores, people and businesses in southern Brunswick County could be teetering on trouble or treasure,” she writes.
How it all plays out will depend on the exact route and financing for the project. Regardless, one thing for certain is that Brunswick is growing rapidly and ensuring that infrastructure, including roads, keeps up with development is extremely important.

Another interesting story in today’s edition is our MyReporter feature. Reporter Molly Wilhelm looks at how the Skyline Center is being used.
The city’s decision to buy the former PPD building was quite controversial, but officials said they’d recoup some of the cost by leasing space to other entities.
In her story, Molly reveals who’s leasing space and how much they are paying.
