Forestville grads ready for ‘next journey’

Forestville seniors walked across the stage, turned their tassels and rang the bell one last time on June 29. The legacy of the Class of 2024’s achievements will live on in the Hornet’s hallway for many years to come.

Following the traditional pomp and circumstance, a welcome was made by Principal Dan Grande, introducing Salutatorian Jillian Grupa.

“As life changes, memories are the only thing that lasts forever and I hope we can all hold on to them,” Grupa said “… I know some of us up here are not ready for our next journey and we aren’t ready to say goodbye. And I think that’s OK. This is scary. … No one knows where life will take us.”

The salutatorian’s speech was followed by the commencement address from Forestville alumna Tricia Dugan (Swierk), Class of ’94. The awards ceremony was led by Mrs. Laurie Becker, Mr. Grande, and Ms. Brianne Hazelton and was filled with many prestigious scholarships and awards for our graduates.

In his valedictorian address, Antonio Patton thanked teachers and families for molding the Class of 2024 into the incredible individuals they are today.

“Forestville is an extraordinarily special place with the kindest and most selfless people I know. And that is especially true of everyone on this stage,” Patton said. “… Together we have become a family and while this chapter may be coming to a close, we will never forget the good times like today and we will also never forget each other.”

Board of Education President Amy Drozdziel and District Superintendent Dr. John O’Connor gave the presentation of diplomas and congratulated the Forestville Class of 2024.
