BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Back to school for the 2024 school year is expected to bring retailers in over 20% increase in spending.
CBL Properties, the company that owns Post Oak Mall in College Station, said they expect another big year for shoppers and retailers.
“Last year, Post Oak Mall, during the back-to-school shopping season, saw approximately over half a million visits during the months of July and August,” said Stacey Keating, CBL Properties Vice President of Communications. “We’re in the midst of a strong back-to-school shopping season this year too.”
According to a report from research firm JLL, almost 90% of parents will interact with physical stores in some way during back-to-school shopping and more than 60% of their budget will be spent at physical stores versus online.
“The National Retail Federation anticipates that families will spend around $875 per family and that the entire back-to-school shopping season will generate around $39 billion in sales,” Keating said.
