GRAFTON — Twenty-one years and thousands upon thousands of customers later, Flannery’s Bar and Restaurant in Grafton officially closed its doors June 20.
Having operated under Fire Ridge Golf Club at 2241 Highway W, the longtime eatery that originated in Milwaukee is undergoing a management transition, according to co-owner Frank Romano, who, along with his brother, bought the golf course in 2003. Its bar, however, remains open with a limited food menu.
“The biggest difference really is that Flannery’s would serve people walking off the street and now it’s primarily focused on golf customers,” Romano told the News Graphic, noting that outside attendees are still welcome.
Romano, who runs five golf businesses including Blackstone Creek in Germantown, partnered with Steven Smith and Paul Melotik to open the restaurant. He said Melotik, R-Grafton, is focused on running for the State Assembly District 22 seat in this fall’s partisan election while Smith chose to retire.
There have been no further discussions regarding another potential restaurant.
