EU’s top court likely to hear Google’s appeal against Android fine

The top court of the European Union is likely to hear tech giant Google’s appeal against the €4.125 billion fine imposed by the European Commission concerning its Android operating system.

Google filed this appeal with the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in December 2022, seeking legal clarification on certain aspects of the case.

The appeal is part of a broader series of legal challenges Google faces within the European Union, including a recent ruling where the ECJ upheld a €2.4 billion fine against Google for favoring its own shopping service over competitors. These developments underscore the EU’s rigorous enforcement of antitrust regulations, particularly concerning major technology companies.

India currently leads the series 2-0 and will aim to seal the series, while England will strive to regain momentum and finish strong.
