Hawaiian Telcom will complete its fiber infrastructure expansion on Kaua‘i at the end of this year.
“Keālia (96751) and Lāwa‘i (96765) were the first two zip codes in the state that Hawaiian Telcom completely enabled with fiber in 2022,” said Hawaiian Telcom President Su Shin. “Today more than half of Kaua‘i’s residents and businesses have access to our fiber infrastructure, and our team is working hard to enable the rest of the island by the end of the year.”
Hawaiian Telcom’s fiber infrastructure enables access to its 100% fiber internet service Fioptics with the state’s fastest upload speed, now 600 Megabits per second, and its next-generation TV service Fioptics+. Fioptics+ TV was recently approved by the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and became available to fiber-enabled Kaua‘i households on Aug. 5, 2024, the first competition for TV service on Kaua‘i in 30 years.
“Improved access to online information and services remains a growing need throughout our state, especially in our rural community here on Kaua‘i. We are grateful to Hawaiian Telcom for being part of the solution to address these concerns,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “Hawaiian Telcom’s efforts to expand its fiber network will improve digital access for our residents, and it is a huge step towards updating our island’s broadband infrastructure and capabilities.”
Since 2010, Hawaiian Telcom has invested more than $1 billion to expand and support its network to serve its customers.
Fioptics+ transforms a TV into a multi-functional entertainment hub, combining traditional TV service with the streaming services you subscribe to on one platform. New customers can receive the first month of Fioptics+ for free when bundling 600 Mbps fiber internet and Fioptics+ TV for $49.99.
