MARTINS FERRY — The Purple Riders (6-1) are rolling after suffering their lone loss in week 4 setback to St. Clairsville (55-21) as the winless Bobcats (0-7) visit Purple Rider Stadium inside the Dave Bruney Football Complex. They have won three straight, outscoring the opposition 147-7 in that stretch.

Martins Ferry opened 3-0 with nods over Shadyside (56-7), River (50-14) and Tuscarawas Valley (34-3). It is ranked No. 11 in Division V, Region 17.

Cambridge has been outscored 298-46 in reversals to Indian Creek (41-13), John Glenn (49-7), Meadowbrook (46-0), Warren Local (47-7), Bellaire (26-6), East Liverpool (41-7) and Union Local (48-6).

Valley at Cameron

CAMERON — Playoff points will be plentiful Friday night when a pair of West Virginia Class A ranked opponents clash at Dragon Field when Valley (5-0), ranked No. 4, visits Marshall County to meet Cameron (5-1), tied for 10th, in a 7 o’clock kickoff.

The Lumberjacks have outscored their five opponents 206-74 or by an average of 40.1 to 14.9. Meanwhile, the Dragons have scored 234 points and given up 89 in its six outings, which averages out to 39-14.9.

Valley has beaten Tygarts Valley (46-33), Hancock, Md. (33-0), Clay Battelle (33-7), Frontier (47-34) and Beallsville (47-0). Cameron, on the other hand, has defeated Hundred (35-0), St. marys (46-21), Magnolia (52-16), Tyler Consolidated (13-6) and Madonna (66-16) after dropping its season-opener at 4-1 Edison (30-22).

Huron Heights at Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE — A pair of 7-0 teams will lock horns on Reno Field inside Harding Stadium. The Canadian visitors own victories over Brantford Collegiate Institute (45-7), Michael Power-St. Joseph (57-0), St. Peter (54-0), Chaminade College School (35-0), Holy Trinity Catholic (55-7), Paul Dwyer (58-7) and Bishop Timon (NY) (27-7).

Big Red has wins over Archbishop Cin. McNicholas (18-16), New Philadelphia (27-21), Cardinal Mooney (31-21), University Prep (Pa.) (38-8), Dover (42-7), Wheeling Park (48-17) and Linsly (48-14).

Steubenville is ranked No. 1 in the Division III, Region 11 poll.

Wheeling Park at Fairmont Senior

FAIRMONT — The Patriots (4-2) are coming off a huge 14-7 victory over visiting Morgantown that vaulted them to No. 3 in the latest WVSSAC Class AAAA ratings, but they will travel to Marion County to face the Polar Bears (6-0) and No. 1 in Class AAA tonight at East-West Stadium.

Wheeling Park also owns triumphs over Parkersburg South (35-14), Nusselman (48-13) and University (35-22). Its two losses — both blowouts — came at the hands of Spring Mills (27-0) and Steubenville (48-17).

The Patriots have only outscored the opposition 149-131.

Fairmont Senior has scored 318 points while giving up a mere 25, only North Marion (55-12) has reached double digits. The other wins have been over Lewis County (535-3), Robert C. Byrd (56-0), Preston (48-3), University (49-7) and Buckhannon-Upshur (55-0).

Keyser at John Marshall

MOUNDSVILLE — The Monarchs (0-5) are still in search of that elusive first win as the Golden Tornado (3-2) visit Monarch Stadium.

John Marshall has lost to Marietta (10-0), George Washington (14-6), Washington High (40-36), Parkersburg South (41-12) and Warren Local (24-12). In fact, the Monarchs have dropped nine straight dating back to last season.

Keyser won 35-10 a year ago and has won three straight over Berkeley Springs (55-14), Hampshire (21-13) and Weir (55-12) after starting 0-2 with losses to Robert C. Byrd (48-7) and Hedgesville (28-21).

Indian Creek at Beaver Local

LISBON — The Redskins (6-1) have strung together four straight victories as they head north to meet the Beavers (3-4).

Indian Creek started 2-0 with wins over Cambridge (41-13) and East Liverpool (20-14) before falling at Union Local (27-26) when a late two-point conversion failed. It has rebounded with triumphs over Weir (52-7), Brooke (30-24), Bellaire (40-26) and Harrison Central (46-14).

Beaver Local has had an up-and-down campaign as it lost the first game of the season at Struthers (41-7) before blanking Brooke (35-0) in week 2. A pair of losses to St. Clairsville (27-21) and East Liverpool (14-9) preceded a win against Salem (32-25) and a loss to Union Local (41-14). They topped Hubbard (39-31) last week in OT.

In other games Friday, Madonna visits Beallsville; Buckeye Local hosts Edison; Shadyside travels to Caldwell; Bridgeport entertains Rosecrans; Bellaire heads north on Ohio 7 to East Liverpool; Harrison Central celebrates Homecoming against Waterford; Magnolia welcomes Frontier; Tyler Consolidated treks to oak Glen; Shenandoah journeys to hannibal to face River; Brooke travels to Frankfort; Toronto hosts Conotton Valley; East Fairmont invades Weir; and Paden City welcomes Hundred.
