Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE:FRT) announced today the renaming and rebranding of Pan Am Shopping Center as part of its ongoing repositioning efforts. The 228,000-square-foot community shopping center, located in Fairfax, Virginia, will be rebranded as “Providence Place.” This name change and branding will align with new aesthetics featured in the renovation while redefining the character of the Shopping Center with ties to its community.  Providence Place draws inspiration from the Providence District of Fairfax County, of which the shopping center is located while the branding graphics incorporate design elements inspired by the architectural detail found on the historic Fairfax County Courthouse.

“We are excited to modernize the shopping center providing our customers with an enriched experience” said Deirdre Johnson, Senior Vice President at Federal. “We look forward to unveiling the newly rebranded Providence Place which is a nod to the community and history of the area while providing an exceptional experience for shopping, dining, and personal services.”

As previously reported, the shopping center is currently undergoing significant renovations, with construction well underway. These upgrades elevate the customer experience through a variety of enhancements, including a refreshed color palette, façade upgrades, a new canopy ceiling with updated lighting, and the addition of two trellis features complemented by new furniture. The property will also benefit from enhanced landscaping, the introduction of mural art and graphics, the installation of bike racks, and renovated signage.

The renovation is scheduled to be completed by year end.
