Pine Creek Seed Farm, between Jersey Shore and Avis, is the U.S. Small Business Administration’s family-owned small business of the year for Eastern Pennsylvania — clearly an accomplishment.
We say the scope of this accomplishment is clear because, as we have noted before, small businesses are the engine that drives the U.S. economy — in job creation, in innovation and sustainability and many more measurements.
As the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shares on its website, there are 33.2 million small businesses in the U.S. and small businesses are responsible for employing 45.9% of the American workforce — or 61.6 million Americans.
“Small businesses have proved time and time again that they are resilient,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s website said.
Russell Redding, Pennsylvania’s state agriculture secretary, noted Pine Creek Seed Farm has demonstrated a commitment to investing in the agricultural sector in Pennsylvania and to continued innovation.
“Pine Creek Seed Farm exemplifies the best in small business values and the American entrepreneurial spirit,” Martin Brill of the Ag Center for Excellence said at an award presentation the Sun-Gazette reported on in Tuesday’s edition.
The innovation and dedication to their field the leaders of Pine Creek Seed Farm display offer reassurance that small businesses, in our region and beyond, will continue to carry America’s economy and, more importantly, America’s aspirations.
We congratulate Pine Creek Seed Farm and look forward to continuing to see the small businesses of our region and our nation rise to the challenges of the present and future and thrive.
