LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $18 million to 24 airports across Nebraska, the agency announced. The funds, distributed on June 28 and July 26 are part of a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing airfield safety and infrastructure.

The Beatrice Municipal airport received the largest grant out of all the Nebraska airports, with nearly $5 million going toward reconstructing the apron and taxiway. Eppley Airfield in Omaha and the North Platte Regional Airport are both receiving close to $3.5 million.

These grants are a portion of the FAA’s larger effort to support aviation facilities across the country, with more than $123 million allocated to 235 airports in 35 states and the District of Columbia. The initiative underscores a national commitment to promoting safety, efficiency, environmental stewardship, infrastructure, and security within the aviation sector.

The funding comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which is supported by approximately $3.3 billion in annual federal funding to advance aviation standards nationwide.

A complete listing of grants is on the FAA website along with an interactive map with all the awards.
