SkyShowtime, the European streaming joint venture of Comcast and Paramount Global, on Tuesday unveiled the upcoming launch of a new advertising-free premium plan, which will be offered alongside its existing “Standard With Ads” and standard, previously named “Standard Plus,” plans.
The introduction of SkyShowtime Premium follows the launch earlier this year of the ad tier and will become available in all of the streamer’s more than markets simultaneously on Oct. 29, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
Pricing for the Premium plan starts from €8.99 per month ($9.87) but will vary from market to market, compared with the Standard Plan whose cost starts from €5.99 ($6.57), and the Standard With Ads plan starting from €3.99 ($4.38). The prices of the existing plans will not change.
“The Premium plan is ad-free and features all of SkyShowtime’s Hollywood blockbuster movies, new and exclusive series, and local original programming at a great price,” the streamer said. “Complete with an enhanced service, the Premium plan goes one step further by elevating the viewing experience for its members. With the ability to stream on up to five devices simultaneously, the entire family can now watch their favorite shows and movies without any interruptions.”
Plus, Premium members can pick up to 100 titles for offline viewing, with the ability to download a maximum of 30 feature films per subscriber account at any given time. The Premium plan also gives users access to the streamer’s “growing selection of popular SkyShowtime titles available in 4K UHD for the first time.”
Upcoming programming hitting SkyShowtime in the coming months includes A Quiet Place: Day One, Kung Fu Panda 4, Landman, season 2 of Lioness, Schmeichel, The Agency, The Darkness, The Day of the Jackal, The Fall Guy, and Part B of season 5 of Yellowstone.
“From the start, SkyShowtime has always been committed to giving consumers choice and delivering great entertainment at a great price,” said SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan. “We are delivering on that promise – first with our Standard With Ads plan and now with the introduction of our new Premium plan that offers customers all of the great SkyShowtime entertainment they love, but with additional features, including more simultaneous streams, more downloads, and a growing selection of 4K UHD content.”
He added: “SkyShowtime was the first to offer an ad-supported plan in these markets and, with our Premium plan, we continue to lead: we are the first streaming service to offer all three plan types … across these markets.”
