ET Infra Rail Show: Indian Railways to see completion of 400-500 Amrit Bharat Stations in 2024, says Anil Khandelwal, Member, Infrastructure, Railway Board – ET Infra

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways will see the completion of 400 to 500 stations being developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in 2024, said Anil Kumar Khandelwal, Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board, Ministry of Railways.

“We foresee that around 400 stations, 400 to 500 stations will complete in current year and balance in the next year,” said Khandelwal in his Keynote address at the third edition of ET Infra Rail Show.

Ministry of Railways has initiated the scheme with an aim of revamping country’s stations on a continuous basis with a long-term approach. The scheme envisages preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at the stations, such as access, waiting halls, toilets, escalators, Wi-Fi, multimodal connectivity, among others.

“Amrit Bharat Station scheme, where we are developing more than 1,300 stations. These stations will provide better experience to the passengers when we start our journey,” said Khandelwal.

Out of about of 1,300 stations, currently works on 1,100 stations are going on and works on five stations have been completed.

“..we are estimating to complete around 4,000 stations by 2047,” said Khandelwal.

Khandelwal outlined that on Vande Bharat Train, the government is planning to start operations of around 22,000 coaches and roughly 400 train sets very soon.

Khandelwal further shared that non-AC Amrit Bharat Express train services will be deployed and expanded with focus on serving the masses of the country.
