An outstanding new golf course at Trump International, Scotland in Aberdeenshire will create the greatest 36 golf holes in world golf, Eric Trump said this weekend.
The Executive Vice President of The Trump Organisation – and head of Trump Golf – was speaking as he visited Trump International, Scotland for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship being held at the existing championship course.
The existing championship course, designed by Dr Martin Hawtree, has won worldwide acclaim and the new course aims to be its equal when it opens next summer.
Plans for the new course were unveiled by President Trump as he conducted a ground-breaking ceremony on his visit to Scotland in May last year. The new course is half-way through the development phase.
Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of The Trump Organisation, said: “We are on track to create the greatest 36 holes on earth through two truly magnificent golf courses sitting side by side among these majestic dunes on the stunning Aberdeenshire coastline. It is a truly mesmerising and very special place.
“No other location can offer what is here in Scotland. We have the greatest sand dunes anywhere in the world, the vast North Sea and the most incredible land!
“Our existing course is hosting the Legends Tour, Staysure PGA Seniors Championship which is great for the area and the game of golf. Another championship links and the best 36 holes in golf will give us endless potential.
“My family is fully committed to supporting my father as he seeks election as President of the United States of America. However, as a business we remain hugely passionate about golf and there is no limit to the ambition we have for Trump International, Scotland in attracting the biggest and best tournaments in the coming years.”
Trump International, Scotland has assembled a world-class team of architects, engineers, environmental scientists, agronomists and industry experts to deliver the new course.
Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President, Trump International, Scotland, said: “It’s thrilling to see this major milestone in our resort development coming to life.
“From the outset this was a long-term, multi-phased project, and the Trump family has always had an unwavering commitment to this property. We know that we are building something truly sensational – the coastal dune setting, and dramatic topography here cannot be surpassed. This could very well be one of the last great modern championship links to be built in the home of golf.
“The course is designed to complement the existing championship links and will offer an incredible test of golf across breathtaking coastal terrain with panoramic North Sea views.
Even at this stage in construction, those who have been offered a preview are speechless at the scale, quality and magnitude of what we are building.”
About the new golf course
Spanning hundreds of acres of beautiful, rugged coastal terrain, the new links course boasts panoramic North Sea vistas and superlative topography. Featuring the world’s largest natural bunker, cavernous sandy hollows, mountainous sand dunes and infinity greens hugging the coastal dune ridge, the course promises to challenge and enthral golfers of every level of ability.
With a minimum of five or more tees on each hole, players will be offered an exceptional test of golf along the North-east coast of Scotland.
From heather-clad wetlands to devilish sandy-scrapes and meandering ancient burns to the jaw-dropping southern dome (sand dune) with its elevated tees atop windswept golden dunes, golfers are enticed over pristine playing surfaces on a journey that rises and falls within the majestic dunes-scape that embraces the spectacular North Sea shoreline.
The design and development of the new course has been overseen by Eric Trump and Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President, Trump International, Scotland.
