Facility Highlights: Waterless Cooling Technology and Advanced AI Capabilities

Edged Energy, a leader in sustainable infrastructure, has marked a significant milestone with the opening of its first North American data center in Atlanta. The state-of-the-art facility, located at 1800 Thomas Street NW, is a key component of the Edged Atlanta campus. This high-tech complex, with a total capacity of 168 MW, occupies the previously unused Tilford Yard site.

Edged Atlanta Campus

The Edged Atlanta campus is tailored for high-density Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads, featuring cutting-edge waterless cooling technology and energy-efficient systems. The campus utilizes the ThermalWorks cooling system, which is expected to conserve approximately 664 million gallons of water annually compared to conventional data centers. This innovation contributes to a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.15, underscoring its efficiency.

The modular setup of the facility supports up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and up to 200 kW per rack with plug-and-play liquid cooling integration, as detailed in the official announcement.

Economic Impact and Benefits

The opening of the Edged Atlanta data center is set to bring substantial economic benefits to the region. According to Develop Fulton, the project is anticipated to generate nearly USD 70 million in tax revenue over the next decade. Furthermore, the initiative promises minimal environmental impact by eliminating water usage for cooling and incorporating advanced electrical systems.

Edged Energy views Atlanta as an ideal location for its first North American data center, citing the project’s role in setting new standards for sustainable development. The USD 1.69 billion investment is expected to create hundreds of jobs and provide significant funding for local public schools, city services, and government functions.

Network of Data Centers

The initial building at the Edged Atlanta campus is now operational, delivering 27 MW of capacity. This facility adds to Edged Energy’s expanding network of data centers across the US, with ongoing projects in cities such as Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Columbus, and Phoenix.
