Eastern Ky. communities receive grants for water infrastructure

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) – Gov. Andy Beshear announced three Eastern Kentucky communities have received funding for water infrastructure.

The City of Jackson will use $4.8 million for a study to prevent future flooding. Another $3 million will be used to replace waterlines along Quicksand Road.

Letcher County will use $4.2 million to replace more than 8,000 feet of waterlines and two pump stations.

The City of Jenkins will use $5.2 million to also conduct a study about preventing future flooding. $1.4 million will be used to improve the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
