Eagles’ fans grocery shopping early ahead of Super Bowl LIX
Many shoppers were out Friday night getting their Super Bowl grocery shopping done early.
CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Many people were out Friday, choosing to get their grocery shopping done ahead of their Super Bowl parties.
Winter weather, with snow and ice, was forecasted to be on the way Saturday night, but many Eagles’ fans just wanted to shop early to get ahead of potential crowds before the game.
The backstory:
Icy weather is predicted Saturday night into early Sunday. But the people we talked to say they’re not worried. They’re more concerned about getting food and snacks to watch the Super Bowl before the mad rush to stores over the weekend.
What they’re saying:
Tony Cerminaro is getting a jump start on grocery shopping ahead of a big weekend.
“I’m ready to sit in and just get ready for the Super Bowl,” he said. We talked to him as he was leaving the Wegmans in Cherry Hill Friday evening.
“A little bit crazy. Everybody’s grabbing everything they need and just getting ready for the game,” he said.
Nearby, in Haddon Township, Christine Donohue stopped in at Severino Pasta Company to check off two things on her weekend to-do list.
“Making dinner tonight but, while I’m here, I’m preparing for the Super Bowl, so it’s nice to take care of it all in one shot,” she said.
Super Bowl special:
Peter Severino is the president of Severino Pasta Company. He says for the first time, they’re making special green raviolis in the spirit of the Eagles.
“We decided to offer, this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday only, our spinach and white ravioli combination,” he said. “We have never done this before so this is a sort of good luck charm for the Eagles.”
