Dunkirk blaze damages home, multiple vehicles

A fire at 12 Taft Place in Dunkirk is under investigation.

Around 11:14 p.m. Thursday, the Dunkirk Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire. Upon arrival heavy fire involvement on the first floor of the 1 1/2 story structure was reported. A boat, camper and motorcycle were also burning in the driveway. The main fire in the residence was knocked down, and overhaul operations immediately began to locate hidden fire on the first and second floors of the house and the vehicles. At 0045 the overhaul operation was completed.

Mutual aid was received from the Fredonia Fire Department and the East Dunkirk Fire Department, Alstar Ambulance and Chautauqua County EMS. All mutual aid companies cleared the scene before 1 a.m. It is believed that there was one resident at home who evacuated from the residence and was uninjured.

There were no injuries reported by personnel on the scene and all units cleared the scene at 1:20 a.m.
