DTCP, the independent investment management firm, has announced two significant appointments to its Digital Infrastructure team. The firm has brought on board Oliver Menzel and Jean-Francois Berche as Senior Advisors, bolstering its expertise in data centres and cloud infrastructure.

Jean-Francois Berche is a veteran in the cloud infrastructure field, with extensive experience spanning over two decades at leading global cloud service providers. Prior to joining DTCP, Berche held the position of Senior Director in Global Infrastructure M&A at Microsoft. His responsibilities included major strategic deals essential for the expansion of Azure Cloud and the capacity needed to support AI deployment worldwide. His career also includes a notable tenure at AWS, where he played a crucial role in the strategic development and deployment of Cloud Services infrastructure.

Oliver Menzel, co-founder and CEO of DTCP portfolio company maincubes, brings over 20 years of experience in the data centre market. Maincubes stands as Germany’s premier data centre operator, focusing on both multi-tenant and single-tenant secure data centres. Menzel’s background in aerospace engineering has laid a foundation for his extensive expertise in creating secure data centre facilities, which began with IT service provider hosting in 2001 and culminated in the establishment of maincubes in 2012.

DTCP’s CEO Vicente Vento expressed enthusiasm about the new appointments, stating, “Jean-Francois and Oliver are both highly regarded experts in their respective fields and more broadly within the data centre sector as a whole. Their talents and depth of experience bring further strength to our exceptional Digital Infrastructure team.” Vento further highlighted that these appointments will enhance DTCP’s value to its Limited Partners as the firm seeks to capitalise on the growing global demand for data centre capacity.

Jean-Francois Berche echoed the sentiment, noting, “DTCP is a recognised name in the private equity industry, synonymous with a forward-looking investment strategy and first-class execution. I am pleased to bring my knowledge from the last two decades with the largest builders and buyers of data centre capacity and cloud infrastructure to DTCP.” Berche will spearhead initiatives to integrate green energy solutions into DTCP’s data centre strategies, emphasising renewable energy sources and efficient technologies. His leadership is expected to align the firm’s operations with environmental goals while supporting generative AI and sustainability advances.

Oliver Menzel also expressed his enthusiasm about joining DTCP, stating, “The collaboration with the DTCP Infra team has been highly beneficial in advancing maincubes’ data centre offerings. Our complementary skills have enabled us to strengthen its market position effectively. I am thrilled to join DTCP as a Senior Advisor, bringing my extensive data centre expertise to the table. I eagerly anticipate leveraging my years of experience to contribute to portfolio expansion and support the exciting growth opportunities ahead.”
