Dreams update for Android 15 Pixel phones rolling out via Google Play

Must read

For Pixel devices, Android 15 will introduce a new Home Controls screensaver. That experience is powered by the Dreams app, which Google just rolled out an update to via the Play Store for Pixel phones on Android 15.

“Dreams” was first released for the Pixel Tablet in 2023 to power the Hub Mode screensavers, including Weather Frog, full-screen clocks, and Google Photos.

With Android 15 (introduced in Beta 3), Google introduced a “Home Controls” screensaver that’s basically the Home controls UI available from your lockscreen or the Quick Settings Tile. It’s particularly well-suited for the Pixel Tablet so that those controls are always showing when docked.

This Home Controls screensaver is also available on Android 15 Pixel phones. Go to Settings app > Display & touch > Screen saver to find it alongside the legacy Clock, Colors, and Photos. As such, the Dreams app that powers this experience was added to phones.

Over the past day, Google has released a Dreams update (version 2024.09.09.672896649.2) for Pixel phones on Android 15 after previously only updating the app on Pixel Tablets. There are no immediate user-facing changes.

The Dreams app is also now powering the Google Photos slideshow when your phone is charging on the Pixel Stand.
