DOT announces $4.2 billion for infrastructure projects

Must read

The Department of Transportation announced Monday $4.2 billion in investments to improve critical infrastructure, the latest spending to come from the bipartisan infrastructure law passed three years ago.

The funding will be distributed through two grant programs — National Infrastructure Project Assistance (Mega) and Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) — to 44 projects that include bridge replacements and port improvement projects.

The investment will “improve safety, improve quality of life, support our supply chains and create good paying jobs, including many union jobs,” said White House deputy chief of staff Natalie Quillian.

So far, the programs have provided more than $12 billion to fund 140 projects across the country.
