Donald Trump has claimed Google will “pay a big price” following allegations the internet giant allowed altered headlines from a number of publications to be used in paid Google adverts by the Harris-Walz campaign.

In a post on his Truth Social website, Trump said: “Google is a Crooked, Election Interference Machine. Totally Illegal, they will pay a big price for what they are doing!”

Trump included a link to an article from conservative news outlet Townhall which claimed the Harris-Walz campaign had been editing headlines and descriptions in paid Google adverts, which House Republican Lance Gooden described as “a deliberate attempt to mislead voters by falsely suggesting endorsement from major news publications.”

The claim that the Harris-Walz team have been editing media headlines for their Google adverts has not been independently confirmed by Newsweek.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
