LOS ANGELES — After a blowout opener, the National League Championship Series continues with Game 2 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets on Monday.

Sunday night’s Game 1 was far from a contest as the No. 1 seed in the NL jumped on Mets starter Kodai Senga in the first inning and New York never recovered. The Dodgers offense scored nine runs by the end of the night while the pitching staff, led by Jack Flaherty, threw its third consecutive shutout of the postseason.

Now in a 1-0 hole, New York will rely on Sean Manaea on the mound, who pitched a brilliant Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. On the other side, Los Angeles will go with a bullpen game started by Ryan Brasier, which was executed perfectly in Game 4 of the NLDS when the team had its back against the wall.

Follow along for updates from Monday’s game:

Tyrone Taylor hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and with two outs, the Dodgers intentionally walked Francisco Lindor to load the bases and bring up Mark Vientos. With a full count, Vientos smashed a grand slam to center off Landon Knack and extend the Mets’ advantage to 6-0.

The Dodgers’ record-tying 33-inning scoreless streak came to an end with the first batter of Game 2, as Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor launched a solo home run to right field off Ryan Brasier.

The Dodgers hadn’t surrendered a run since the second inning in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres.

LOS ANGELES — Jack Flaherty grew up in Los Angeles. He pitched at Dodger Stadium in high school, and dreamed one day of being a Dodger.

Still, even in his wildest dreams, he never quite envisioned a night like this.

Flaherty, in one of the finest pitching performances in Dodgers postseason history, gave up just two hits in seven shutout innings, leading the Dodgers to a 9-0 rout Sunday night over the New York Mets in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.

“It was,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, “just a pitching clinic.”
