Florida quarterback DJ Lagway was carted off the field after suffering a non-contact injury late in the second quarter of the Gators’ rivalry game against Georgia. Lagway ran the ball on the first play of Florida’s fifth drive but fell to the ground shortly after passing the line of scrimmage.

Lagway is out for the remainder of the game. He came out of halftime in street clothes and on crutches.

He remained down after the play and was loaded onto the cart after being attended to by Florida’s training staff. The Gators led 10-3 at the time of Lagway’s injury. Lagway had two completions for 47 yards and one touchdown, plus 18 yards rushing over the first two quarters.

“He’s got a hamstring. A pretty significant one,” Napier said during an interview on ESPN’s broadcast. “He’s a tough kid. I can promise you one thing: this team will rally behind him for sure.”

Lagway’s injury is a huge blow for Florida. The former five-star prospect assumed the full-time starting job after Graham Mertz tore his ACL in an Oct. 12 loss to Tennessee. Lagway led Florida to a 48-20 win against Kentucky in his first career start.

With Lagway sidelined, Florida turned to former Yale transfer Aidan Warner to lead its offense. Warner, who joined the program as a walk-on in the offseason, did not play in any games as a true freshman at Yale in 2023. He has played in two games this season, with 30 yards passing and one touchdown rushing against Samford and Kentucky.
