Della Mae Christy Downey
Della Mae Christy Downey, 82, of Sinclairville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024.
Born Feb. 15, 1942 in the Town of Charlotte the daughter of the late Donald and Eveline Lewis Christy. Della would brag about Dr. Frank Shapiro giving her a “Jewish Belly Button”.
She was a 1960 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.
Della worked in housekeeping at Lutheran Social Services, Jamestown for many years.
She enjoyed collecting pigs, raising chickens and adored her grand and great-grandchildren.
Wife of 61 years to Larry Arthur Downey who she married Oct. 12, 1963 in Buffalo; mother of, Julia Lynn Downey of Forestville; grandmother of, Kayla Marie O’Neill Downey, Sharlene Ann Downey Mirranda Lee Downey-Patel, Amber Sky Wysocki and the late Cherish Page Leone; great-grandmother of, Landyn, Blake, Shamus, Atlas, Kira, Alexandra, Kora, Atreus, Belamour and Evelyn; sister of Harold (Sheryl) Christy and the late Howard Christy and Phyllis Klein. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
