DEPEW — Jamestown senior Noah Burch is heading to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association track and field championships.

He’ll be joined by six other local student-athletes.

Burch, Maple Grove’s Ethan Verbosky and Jonah Foley, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Roger Markham, Randolph’s Eve Adams and Maverick Adams and Southwestern’s Mikayla Johnson all punched their tickets to next weekend’s state championships at Cicero-North Syracuse High School with their performances at Day 1 of the Section VI state qualifier Friday at Depew High School.

Burch won the boys Division 1 long jump with a personal-best leap of 23 feet.

Verbosky, a Red Dragons sophomore, won the boys Division 2 800 meters with a time of 1:55.56 that put him in the top 25 in New York state for the season. Southwestern junior Donavin Brown finished third (1:57.69), Dunkirk senior Lucas Lawrie was fourth (1:58.45), Southwestern senior Trey Faulk was fifth (1:59.15) and Dunkirk senior Edward Jourden was sixth (2:00.83).

Markham, a Golden Cougars sophomore, won the boys Division 2 long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 7 inches. Foley, a Red Dragons senior, was second at 22-5.25, reaching the state-qualifying distance in the process. Southwestern junior Connor Young was seventh at 21-2.

Eve Adams, a Cardinals senior, won the girls Division 2 pole vault at a personal-best height of 9 feet, 6 inches. Falconer/Cassadaga Valley sophomore Mary Lundmark was second (8-9) and Dunkirk senior Felicity Cooper was seventh (8-3).

Johnson, a Trojans sophomore, finished second in the girls Division 2 shot put at 36 feet, 1.5 inches, reaching a state-qualifying distance in the process. Johnson’s senior teammate Faith Hamilton was fourth (34-4), Falconer/Cassadaga Valley senior Autumn Lynn was seventh (31-10) and Southwestern junior Leigha Sischo was eighth (31-4.25).

Maverick Adams, another Cardinals senior, placed second in the boys Division 2 discus at 145 feet, 11 inches, reaching a state-qualifying distance in the process.

Southwestern sophomore Tyler McIntyre was fourth (136-2), Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton freshman Walter Lukasiak was fifth (134-3) and Lukasiak’s junior teammate Mason Maring was eighth (129-8).

Jamestown senior Stephen Hallberg placed third (9:52.78) and senior teammate Maxwell Knight placed fifth (10:09.81) in the boys Division 1 3,200 meters.

Jamestown junior Emily Cardinale was third (10-6) in the girls Division 1 pole vault.

Silver Creek/Forestville senior Emily Bowers placed third (10:49.62) in the girls Division 2 3,000 meters.

Southwestern freshman Emma Lewis finished fourth (2:20.91) and sophomore teammate Tryniti Card took fifth (2:22.69) in the girls Division 2 800 meters.

Frewsburg junior Cody Kent placed fifth (9:51.25) and Maple Grove senior Sean Verbosky placed seventh (9:59.66) in the boys Division 2 3,200 meters.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton junior Jada Cole placed seventh (34-4) in the girls Division 2 triple jump.

Jamestown junior Belle Johnson finished eighth (2:23.81) in the girls Division 1 800 meters.

Jamestown senior Isaiah Sanchez placed eighth (2:02.37) in the boys Division 1 800 meters.

Jamestown freshman London Hamilton placed eighth (11:13.32) in the girls Division 1 3,000 meters.

Several other student-athletes turned in performances that sent them to today’s finals in various events.

Southwestern senior Neves Hoose leads the boys Division 2 pentathlon after three events with 1,905 points. Hoose earned 669 points with his time of 16.58 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, 636 points by reaching a height of 1.81 meters in the high jump and 600 points for his shot put distance of 11.89 meters. Silver Creek/Forestville sophomore Nathan Mays is third with 1,777 points after running 17.62 in the 110-meter hurdles, reaching 1.81 meters in the high jump and throwing 11.57 meters in the shot put. Cattaraugus-Little Valley senior John Sheldon is eighth with 1,314 points, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley freshman Patrick Braley is ninth (1,265), Cattaraugus-Little Valley senior Hippo Engel is 11th (1,242) and Clymer/Sherman/Panama eighth-grader Sawyer Whitney is 12th (1,220).

Salamanca senior Michaelynn Lecceradone is fifth in the girls Division 2 pentathlon with 1,181 points. Southwestern senior Reece Beaver is sixth (1,146) and freshman teammate Katie Bishop is seventh (1,070).

Maple Grove freshman Sydney Simmons qualified sixth (17.13) and Southwestern sophomore M’Kenzie Zavala qualified seventh (17.33) for the girls Division 2 100-meter hurdles.

Southwestern senior Declan Kennedy qualified third (15.30) and Frewsburg senior Zayne Cline qualified fifth (15.92) for the boys Division 2 110-meter hurdles.

Frewsburg junior Grace Lennon qualified fourth (13.31) and Salamanca eighth-grader Jamila Nelthrope qualified fifth (13.19) for the girls Division 2 100-meter dash.

Jamestown junior Ayden Samuelson qualified eighth (11.56) for the boys Division 1 100-meter dash.

Southwestern senior Alexis Grijalva qualified third (58.68), Fredonia junior Delaney Kaiser qualified sixth (1:01.28), Cattaraugus-Little Valley junior Emma Gassman qualified seventh (1:02.74) and Silver Creek/Forestville sophomore Chymerah Genovese qualified eighth (1:03.37) for the girls Division 2 400 meters.

Randolph senior Talon Rowland qualified first (49.92), Dunkirk junior Johnee Thomas qualified second (51.63) and Clymer/Sherman/Panama senior Lucas Dunnewold qualified seventh (52.76) for the boys Division 2 400 meters.

Burch qualified first (50.64) for the boys Division 1 400 meters.

Nelthrope qualified fourth (26.60), Lennon qualified fifth (26.71), Grijalva qualified sixth (26.87) and Gassman qualified eighth (27.39) for the girls Division 2 200-meter dash.

Rowland qualified third (22.43) for the boys Division 2 200-meter dash.

Jamestown junior Jarren Cotter qualified seventh (23.23) for the boys Division 1 200-meter dash.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior Hannah Madonia qualified fifth (1:08.68) and Clymer/Sherman/Panama senior Tayden Persons qualified seventh (1:09.58) for the girls Division 2 400-meter hurdles.

Dunkirk senior Michael Hanlon qualified first (56.23), Kennedy qualified second (56.87) and Randolph junior Domanik Clark qualified seventh (59.89) for the boys Division 2 400-meter hurdles.

Jamestown senior Liam Caswell qualified second (59.97) for the boys Division 1 400-meter hurdles.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s team of Natalie Dossey, Madonia, Lundmark and Roxane Geranmayeh qualified fourth (51.12), Southwestern’s team of Grijalva, Marlana Cresanti, Joslyn Brown and Avery Johnson qualified fifth (51.73) and Frewsburg’s team of Olivia Hallenbeck, Gracie Conlan, Elli Seiberg and Lennon qualified eighth (52.45) for the girls Division 2 400-meter relay.

Randolph’s team of Adams, Caden Inkley, Rowland and Gavin Stearns qualified fourth (43.97) for the boys Division 2 400-meter relay.

Jamestown’s team of Samuelson, Aidan Senear, Andrew Marucci and Cameron Burgess qualified seventh (45.15) for the boys Division 1 400-meter relay.

The final day of competition gets underway today at 10 a.m.
