The Dunkirk Common Council is set to ratify a sale of the city’s marina tonight.

Steve St. George, Alan Steinberg, and John Atzrott, who run Triple S Marina, LLC, are in the process of purchasing the privately held portion of the marina. Council’s resolution tonight states, “Should Triple S Marina buy the privately held portion… the city wishes to enter into a companion lease with Triple S Marina.”

Chadwick Bay Marina, LLC currently owns the private portion and leases the city-held part. Chadwick Bay Marina was purchased in spring 2023 by Peter Smith, but local officials distanced themselves from him after two incidents that July. Smith faced criminal charges for alleged threats against someone he thinks stole from him. Then he was accused of stuffing fish to win a tournament, getting disqualified.

Dunkirk announced intentions to change marina ownership in September, and sought help from the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency.

The proposed marina sale was initially announced at last month’s CCIDA board meeting.
