MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) — Consumers Energy has released what it calls a “reliability roadmap” that it will present to the Michigan Public Service Commission on Friday.

The plan includes more buried power lines, infrastructure upgrades and grid automation efforts meant to reduce the number and length of customer power outages and support jobs.

The utility provider also proposes a new wildfire risk mitigation plan that includes prioritizing tree trimming, equipment upgrades and more effective monitoring.

Consumers Energy says it provides natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million Michigan residents.
