NFL divisional round overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the divisional round of the NFL playoffs as the championship game matchups are set.
Sports Seriously
After a shocking victory over the Detroit Lions, the Washington Commanders will face a very familiar opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles for a shot to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Commanders‘ quarterback Jayden Daniels is enduring one of the greatest rookie quarterback seasons of all-time, and that argument would be greatly emboldened if he is able to lead his team to New Orleans. Unfortunately, the Eagles have had his number this year.
Sure, the Commanders won one of their matchups against Philly, but the Eagles were forced to start Kenny Pickett at quarterback in that game. Yet, Washington only won by a measly three points at home. In their other matchup, the Eagles put up 20 fourth quarter points to walk away with the win. It’s not far-fetched to assume a similar outcome will happen with Jalen Hurts now healthy for Philadelphia.
Here are our experts’ predictions for the NFC Championship Game.

Eagles vs. Commanders | Chiefs vs. Bills
Lorenzo Reyes: Eagles 28, Commanders 18
The Commanders are young and seemingly unfazed by the stakes of the moment. Jayden Daniels has been tremendous. That said, the Eagles simply have a better roster and are a very tough matchup for Washington. The Commanders allowed 137.5 rushing yards per game, which ranked 30th in the NFL. The Eagles, of course, maul their  opponents with Saquon Barkley. And though the Commanders won their Week 16 matchup against the Eagles, it was the game when Jalen Hurts got knocked out with a concussion. I think Philadelphia wins fairly comfortably.
Tyler Dragon: Eagles 30, Commanders 27
Saquon Barkley is the star of stars in this game. The Eagles running back is coming off of a 205 rushing yard performance versus the Rams. He’s registered 324 rushing yards and two rushing TDs in two postseason games. NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite Jayden Daniels will help the Commanders keep the game close, but Washington doesn’t have enough firepower to hang with Philly.
Jordan Mendoza: Eagles 27, Commanders 25
Who wins the rubber match? Washington is red-hot and it’s hard to pick against the momentum it has. However, it doesn’t seem like Saquon Barkley can be slowed down. Philadelphia wins a nail biter and returns to the Super Bowl.
