The Fredonia High School Class of 1969 celebrated its 55th High School Class Reunion over a two day weekend, Aug. 2 and 3. Approximately 50 classmates, plus their significant others gathered over the weekend utilizing a variety of venues and opportunities to gather. Organized under the leadership of Judy Brushaber Oakes, the event kicked off Friday afternoon at the outdoor cabin of Gary and Martha Wragg who provided a light lunch and ample opportunities to gather in small groups or just relax in their rustic getaway home. That evening classmates gathered at 64 on the Rocks and enjoyed light appetizers, music provided by DJ Jason Gould who also led the class in a round of Music Bingo playing selections from the 70’s and 80’s. Class photographer, Pete Gent, managed to round up the crew for several photo opportunities to memorialize the gathering. On Saturday, classmates scattered throughout the area to explore. Favorite stops were the local Wine Festival, various wineries in the region, Lily Dale and our own Darwin R. Barker Library and Museum. Pete Gent provided the museum with additional artifacts to add to their Fredonia Censor display as his father was one of the longtime former owners/editors. That evening classmates gathered for a catered dinner at Shorewood Country Club where they enjoyed local favorites such as chicken wings and beef on weck and a beautiful sunset over Lake Erie! The evening closed with a program presented by Donna Dolce that included “unique” prizes to those who “won” in each category. Plans to meet in five years have already begun and we encourage all former classmates to join in meeting up with old friends and perhaps making a few new ones.
