FORESTVILLE: Clark J. Tyler, 98, of Mixer Road, Forestville, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born in the Town of Charlotte on October 3, 1925, the son of the late Jess and Winifred (Livermore) Tyler.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Coxswain in WW II, receiving the Victory Medal, American Campaign & Asiatic Pacific 1 Star medals. Clark owned & operated the former C.J. Tyler Excavating, Forestville, for 30 years. He also worked for the former Dunkirk Ready Mix for 15 years.
Clark was a former member of the Hanover Masonic Lodge 152 F&AM, Forestville and a former member of the Dunkirk VFW Post 1017. He was a man beloved by all who enjoyed working on equipment and tinkering in his garage.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Tyler Sweda, of Pinellas Park, FL; and a son, Tim Tyler, of Forestville. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Todd, Jess, Kathy and Amanda, seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Eleanor C. (Tilley) Tyler whom he married on January 5, 1946 in Grace Lutheran Church, Dunkirk and who died on November 7, 2013, daughter-in-law Catherine “Cat” Tyler who died on January 16, 2024, three brothers Roger, Robert & Floyd Tyler and by a sister Mary Mizwa
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 9th at 11 o’clock from Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville.
