WESTON, W.Va (WDTV) – The city of Weston is receiving approximately $430,000 for water infrastructure improvements from West Virginia American Water.

The aim of the funding is to help provide safe and reliable water service to the community.

The project includes replacing nearly 1,300 feet of aging water main.

Officials said the upgrades will improve service reliability for customers, which will help reduce service disruptions and improve water flow to fire hydrants.

Construction for the project will take place along School Street and Brooklyn Avenue in Weston. Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the construction period.

“I am extremely happy to see these water infrastructure upgrades. Each upgrade and investment in our community will directly help our residents,” said Lewis County Commissioner Agnes Queen. “We look forward to these and future projects, not only in Weston, but throughout Lewis County.”

During construction, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure, officials said. However, crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
