Must read

The City of Gautier is beginning to work on new infrastructure projects after receiving funding earlier this week.

In a city council meeting on October 1st, the City of Gautier approved the use of two infrastructure bonds that will give the town some much needed improvements.

The bonds were introduced on business agenda items three and four in Tuesday’s meeting which allocated $7 million for infrastructure needs around Gautier.

The first bond is up to $2 million and will be used to replace decorative lights on Highway 90.

The current lights are too expensive to replace when broken and will be swapped with a more affordable light fixture.

The second bond is up to $5 million and will serve multiple purposes. Firstly, it will be used to replace all copper pipes in the current water filtration system.

Gautier will also use this bond to build two new water filtration systems on the North and South end of the city to ensure clean water for all residents.

Finally, all excess funds will go towards smaller infrastructure needs like a much need update to the draining system on West Park Drive.

All these improvements are small ways Gautier is making their city a better place for its residents.

Construction on the new water filtration systems hasn’t started yet but the other infrastructure projects will be completed in the coming months.
