A Dunkirk man has been charged after an incident at a city grocery store that injured workers.
At 5:02 p.m., Dunkirk Police responded to Save-A-Lot at 168 E. Fourth St., for a report of a shoplifter actively fighting with staff. Upon arrival the suspect, later identified as James P. Tilley III, 48, had fled the scene on foot.
Officers located Tilley a short distance away and took him into custody. It was determined that Tilley had attempted to steal merchandise from the store and when confronted by staff began physically fighting them, ultimately taking the merchandise by force. Tilley’s actions resulted in minor injuries to staff. Tilley was transported to city police headquarters where he was held for arraignment on charges of third-degree robbery and second-degree harassment.
