Forty CIAO members gathered at the Silver Creek Ballpark pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 10 for their annual picnic. Before enjoying a delicious catered lunch, appetizers were enjoyed followed by desserts provided by members. A game of Trombola, Italian Bingo, was enjoyed by all. A big thank you to Michelle Patterson for chairing the picnic activity. A short meeting followed to discuss future activities. A cooking class to learn how to make arancini, Italian stuffed rice balls, will be held in the fall along with a trip to the Italian Cultural Center in Buffalo followed by a delicious Italian meal at one of the highly esteemed restaurants in Buffalo. More information will follow. Nance Ortolano thanked all the ladies who provided cookies for CIAO to sell at the Italian Festival. The proceeds paid for the catered lunch with a little left over for the bus rental. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys food and socializing. Anyone interested in joining CIAO can contact Ortolano at nortolano@stny.rr.com.
