Christmas tree retailers ready for holiday shopping weekend

For many of the tree retailers this weekend will be their busiest of the season.

The Christmas Trim-a-Tree Wonderland at Homestead Pools is fully stocked with a wide array of artificial trees ranging from one foot to 12 feet in an assortment of varieties and shapes with most of them being pre-lit.

Trees range from the small ones starting at $5 to some of the 12-foot ones at around $1,300.

General manager Gary Rice said the most popular size tree is around 7 to 7-and-a-half feet.

The business has three showrooms for trees, decorations, ornaments, lights, wreaths and all sorts of Christmas items.

The business, which has been doing the Christmas showrooms at that location for 49 years, will have a number of their trees marked down for a Black Friday sale from Friday through Sunday.

Wright noted that the main business at the location is swimming pools and spas and if a spa to relax in is on the gift list, he can help out with the purchase of one of those as well.

They are open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours until 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hozak Farms, a family run business that is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, makes tree shopping into a fun family outing, with hayrides, hot cocoa and hot cider. On the weekends they have on site a food truck, a popcorn vendor and a wine vendor.

They offer five varieties of pre-cut and cut-your-own trees including Blue Spruce, White Pine, Fraiser Fir, Concolor Fir and Canaan.

Saws for cut-your-trees are provided along with shaking and baling of the trees.

For those needing to update decorations for their trees or home, pine roping and wreaths are available for purchase along with an assortment of ornaments and Christmas decorations in their gift shop.

Times for cut-your-own trees are daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the gift shop and Christmas barn for pre-cut trees is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Iannetti’s Garden Center is ready to go with fresh pre-cut Christmas trees up to about 10 feet in height, flocked trees in a variety of colors, wreaths, grave pillows and home-grown poinsettias in a variety of colors including pink, red, white and marbled.

Colors for flocked trees include white, red, electric blue, navy blue, yellow, orange, purple and green.

Scott Weaver, owner, said outside of the month of May he anticipates this to be one of the busiest weekends of the year.

The family owned and operated Mundy’s Tree Farm said they will be ready with a variety of trees including White Pine, Blue Spruce, Norway, Scotch Pine and a variety of fir trees.

Customers can cut their own tree or opt for a pre-cut tree. Shaken and baled is included with the tree and staff can help load and tie down the tree.

Janoski’s Farms, another family owned and operated business, is ready to go for the holiday weekend with an ample supply of pre-cut Christmas trees, grave blankets/pillows, wreaths, pine roping and greens and farm grown poinsettias.

Tree varieties include Fraiser Fir, Canaan Firs and Blue Spruce and range in size from approximately 5 feet to 9 feet. They also have ball and burlap trees ready for replanting. All trees are pre-cut

Poinsettias are available in red, white, pink, and new this year a purple poinsettia.

Mundy’s Nursery and Christmas Tree Farm is located at 12854 state Route 45, Lisbon. They can be reached by phone at 330-424-3189.

They are open Friday through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Christmas Eve. Trees are shaken, baled, loaded and tied down for the customers.
