The Castle Hill YMCA partnered with the Children’s Hope Chest to host their annual special in-person shopping experience for families in the Castle Hill community on Saturday, Dec. 14. The event was held in the gym of the Castle Hill YMCA, located at 2 Castle Hill Ave.
The gymnasium was transformed into a Christmas Super Store, full of toys, games, coats and outerwear of all types, pajamas and more donated from Children’s Hope Chest. Parents were able to pick out from all these items for their children.
“We want to thank everyone at the Bronx Y for making this possible for us to do. The collections we have this year are really outstanding,” Children’s Hope Chest Co-President Lindsey Liebowitz said. “We have over 300 toys that were collected and donated. We’re looking forward to a great day.”
This marked the 15th year of Children’s Hope Chest and the Castle Hill YMCA partnering to put together this holiday event.
“We are more than happy and grateful to have Children’s Hope Chest here. This partnership is invaluable, it’s priceless, it’s precious and it impacts and changes lives for families,” Castle Hill YMCA Executive Director Sharlene Brown said. “With their support, including that of the children volunteers, each year the holiday season is made special for our community. We are truly thankful for this partnership and hope to continue making this a magical time.”
The mission of the Children’s Hope Chest (CHC) is to provide help and offer hope to children in the Bronx community suffering from poverty, abuse, neglect and illness. The organization strives to increase social action by promoting adult and youth volunteerism.
