The Shops at Farmington Valley
CANTON, CT — A prominent Farmington Valley shopping destination in Canton is hosting a backpack and food drive to celebrate the return to school by helping the community.
The collection started Aug. 12 and continues through Thursday, Aug. 29.
Called the “Backpack Drive to Support Gifts of Love,” the program will kick off the fall season of activities at the Shops at Farmington Valley and celebrate the return to school
“Help fight food insecurity in the community by donating non-perishable food items to support Gifts of Love’s Weekend Backpack program,” wrote the Shops at Farmington Valley, which is located at 110 Albany Turnpike, Canton.
Done in collaboration with local charity Gifts of Love, The Shops at Farmington Valley is organizing the backpack/food drive.
This is when visitors can drop off canned goods, non-perishable items, and backpacks at designated drop boxes located at J. Jill, Massage Envy, Jefferson Fry Co., and other participating stores.
Food donations will be used to fill backpacks that will be distributed to local families in need, ensuring students are equipped with the weekend essentials they need to thrive this school year.
In addition to the donation drive, many stores are offering exclusive back-to-school promotions.
