Canceled Google Pixel Tablet 2’s specs leak

Must read

Google has allegedly canceled the Pixel Tablet 2, as we found out last month, and today we get some new details about what could have been – but won’t be.

The Pixel Tablet 2 was going to sport a 10.95-inch 2,560×1,600 resolution 120 Hz refresh rate LCD screen with 550-nit peak brightness, the Tensor G4 SoC at the helm (though in a slightly lesser-performing version that will also be in the Pixel 9a), and even 5G support in one version.

Original Google Pixel Tablet

This would’ve been enabled by the Exynos Modem 5400 that’s in the Pixel 9 smartphones. The tablet wouldn’t have had any satellite communications, however. The 5G variant would also have had GPS.

The Pixel Tablet 2’s selfie camera would have seen an update to a 10 MP sensor, up from 8 MP, while the rear camera would have been 11 MP with autofocus (a pretty significant upgrade to the 8 MP fixed focus camera of the original Pixel Tablet). Despite rocking the same selfie snapper as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the tablet wouldn’t have received support for face unlock.

Finally, the canceled device is rumored to have supported DisplayPort output up to 4K. It would have come with a Google-made keyboard and stylus. But now all of that is irrelevant since the Pixel Tablet 2 isn’t coming – or at least, this device isn’t. Google may of course launch something else in the future and call it that.
