Byron Allenā€˜s media company has enlisted a new finance chief to oversee the business of its most well-known TV brand, The Weather Channel.

Christopher T. Young, who held C-suite roles at Latino-focused media company Entravision over the course of a 15-year-plus tenure, was hired as CFO at The Weather Channel and will hold the title of executive vice president at Allen Media Group, the company said Wednesday.

Young, who also ran outdoor ad service company Vista Media and held titles at several banking institutions, will be based in Los Angeles and in Atlanta, where the Weather Channel campus operates from. Heā€™ll report to Allen and Allenā€™s CFO Christopher Malone.

Allen had purchased the linear TV network The Weather Channel for what was said to be in the $300 million range in 2018. (The digital assets of the brand were sold by IBM last year to private equity investment firm Francisco Partners.)

Allen Media Group holdings also include website TheGrio, local TV stations in multiple cities, streaming service HBCU Go and branded properties like Cars.TV and Pets.TV. The company underwent a notable round of layoffs and cost-cutting in May that saw reductions across its divisions as part of a restructuring.

ā€œWe are very excited to have Christopher Young join Allen Media Group,ā€ Byron Allen said in a statement. ā€œChris brings extensive finance and operational experience in the media industry spanning over three decades. His strong expertise and tenured capital markets background are valuable assets.ā€

Young added, ā€œI look forward to working with the Allen Media Group team to help execute our continued growth and long-term strategies.ā€Ā Ā
