Looking for a binge-worthy TV show to occupy those nights snuggled up on the sofa this festive season? Allow us to recommend Netflix’s new series, Black Doves. Not only is it set in London *at* Christmastime – making it an instant win in our books – it also has an instantly gripping plot plus a stellar cast. Hi Keira Knightley!
No spoilers, but the plot follows Helen Webb (played by Knightley), a spy at the Black Doves agency living life as a politician’s wife in order to gain access to some seriously high-level government secrets. However, when her secret lover is killed, things get err, interesting. In short, it’s the female spy thriller we’ve been longing for. If you’ve already raced through it, here’s a full explainer for the ending. And if you have yet to start watching, get on it because a second season has already been confirmed!
We must confess, we’re actually on our second watch because we found ourselves heavily distracted throughout by Keira Knightley’s wardrobe. From her chic AF belted leather jacket to the burgundy satin dress that would look *so* good for our own Christmas party. So, we took a leaf out of Helen’s book and used our resources (read: Google and otherwise largely useless fashion knowledge) to track down where all of Keira Knightley’s Black Doves outfits are from. And, to allow you to focus solely on screen and not miss a minute of the action, we’ve also found similar, budget-friendly pieces available to shop RN ready to recreate Helen’s style.
The burgundy satin shirt and pleated midi skirt
As a politician’s wife, Helen has access to some luxe designers. Namely, Max Mara and Proenza Schouler, who respectively designed the now sold-out silk shirt and leather pleated midi skirt Keira’s character wears when we first meet her. It’s a demure ensemble (again, down to her duties as a politician’s wife) but there’s no denying the head-to-toe burgundy hue ticks off one of this season’s biggest fashion trends.
The brown wrap coat
At this time of year, it feels like we’re always on the lookout for a chic winter coat and this Weekend Max Mara belted wool design definitely fits the bill. It’s still in stock, but warning – it ain’t cheap. The neutral warm brown hue and wrap design make it a timeless style so you could argue it’s worth the investment, but luckily Cos has come through with a more affordable and practically identical iteration.
The black belted leather jacket
A leather jacket is a wardrobe staple but thanks to Keira, we’re now lusting after a belted design to add to our collection. We’re still working on confirming the ID of her exact jacket (hey, even Helen didn’t work it out straight away) but in the meantime, we’ll be shopping the high street to recreate her look.
The pink and white striped satin pyjamas
Forget the fact Helen just murdered a hit man in her shed, we were more focused on the gorge pink and white striped satin pyjamas she wears to climb into bed in episode two. The design is perhaps most associated with Victoria’s Secrets, but it’s an ever-popular style with plenty of retailers getting in on the look. If you’re not a satin sleepwear kind of gal, we’d recommend Stripe & Stare’s super soft tencel PJs.
A hoodie and jeans
Only Keira Knightley could make a hoodie and jeans look so cool. We’re putting it down to her jeans, specifically the Crosbie jeans from Veronica Beard that feature a flattering high-rise, flared leg and two statement patch pockets. A design detail that River Island has replicated, too.

The red satin party dress
Consider this our ultimate inspo for all events in our festive calendars, from Christmas to New Year’s Eve. The deep garnet hue, figure-hugging silhouette and flattering elbow-length sleeves all create unapologetic glamour that we are so here for. And, it has a price tag to match with Keira’s exact dress the Adele style from Saloni. Thankfully, Nobody’s Child and Oasis have some equally beautiful, similar dresses on offer.
Happy shopping!
