Both candidates prioritize infrastructure as Bexar County’s Precinct 1 grows rapidly

Must read

SAN ANTONIO – Republican Lina Prado is running to unseat incumbent Rebeca Clay-Flores for County Commissioner Precinct 1.

We are covering a watch party for Lina Prado who is the challenger for Bexar County Precinct 1 commissioner’s race.

We did speak to incumbent, current Bexar County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores who tells us she’s not hosting a watch party tonight but is beyond confident voters will elect her to serve a second term.

Early voting numbers do show Clay-Flores in the lead with almost 60 percent of its votes in her favor.

Lina Prado tells me she’s also confident voters see her potential as a leader with experience in budgeting.

Precinct 1 is the largest geographic area in Bexar County, spanning from South Bexar County to the Alamo Ranch area. It’s also one of the fastest growing areas.

Both candidates say if they are elected, updating the infrastructure in Precinct 1 will be one of their top priorities.

“Better infrastructure which is really lacking on the South Side, where we’ve been neglected. Better infrastructure brings more jobs, more resources for our community,” Clay-Flores said.

“The infrastructure, both on the South Side and in the Northwest, we don’t have the right infrastructure for the growing community that we have,” Prado said.

There are already several road construction projects in the area. Both candidates say that’s just the beginning for the fast growing area.

We will continue to update voter results throughout the night.
