BNamericas – Tweak proposed to improve Central America po…

Central America power interconnection commission CRIE opened public consultation for a proposed modification related to the execution of transmission expansions.

“The regulations are not very specific regarding the activities that must be carried out in the construction stage. In addition, other improvements have been identified that seek to ensure greater efficiency,” CRIE stated.

The commission argues that the change would “take advantage of the experience and existing infrastructure, by assigning the execution of the planned regional expansions to the EPR or the transmission agent that owns an existing facility, as appropriate, benefiting from economies of scale with this alternative; and, consequently, reducing operational and administrative costs.”

EPR is the operator of the Siepac regional power grid.

The consultation runs through November 18 and information is available in the Documents box in the top right corner.

Meanwhile, CRIE approved a request from El Salvador’s state power transmission company Etesal to connect dispatch infrastructure to the regional transmission network.

The infrastructure consists of the Morazán substation and the 58km, 115kV San Miguel-Morazán line, and the overhaul of the 15 de Septiembre substation and San Antonio Abad-Nejapa line.
