On Monday, May 13, Marshalltown residents welcomed a new addition to the city’s burgeoning beauty scene. Blink x Celeste Beauty House officially opened its doors at 2501 South Center Street Ste Q. With promises of a fresh take on glamor and pampering, the studio aims to captivate locals with its offerings.
At the heart of this new venture is Celeste Mendoza, a 25-year-old Latina entrepreneur. Mendoza is originally from Atlanta, Ga., but made Marshalltown her home 14 years ago. She attended Marshalltown High School, graduating in 2016. Years later, she obtained her esthetician license from World of Beauty Academy.
Despite juggling being a stay-at-home mom, Mendoza’s vision of establishing her beauty studio stemmed from humble beginnings as a self-employed business owner operating from her home. Her passion for her craft ultimately led to the realization of Blink x Celeste Beauty House.
“I know sometimes we are afraid to start new adventures and start our own business, and it is okay to feel all the emotions. My motto in life is ‘take it one day at a time’ and ‘you won’t know unless you try.’ That’s why I want to inspire and create opportunities for those around me,” Mendoza said.
Specializing in lash extensions for nearly four years, Medoza’s expertise started when she decided to tackle the next chapter of her entrepreneurial journey — the opening of her salon. Blink x Celeste Beauty House offers services, including lash extensions, brow lamination and shaping, and body waxing, all within a welcoming and tranquil environment that caters to everyone.
Mendoza reflected on the passion she has for her work,
“What I love about being an esthetician is that I can show off my artistic side by creating different lash extension styles. Seeing my clients walk out feeling confident and obsessed with my luxury work is incredibly fulfilling,” she said.
Beyond her success, Mendoza is committed to opening new doors of opportunity within her community. Blink x Celeste Beauty House also offers rental spots for cosmetologists and nail technicians, aiming to become an all-in-one beauty destination.
Looking ahead, Mendoza envisions expanding her business to different cities, and she is eager to spread her passion for beauty.
