BLADEN, Neb. (KSNB) – A Bladen girl took her love of dogs and art and put it in a digital drawing that won the ‘Doodle for Google’ statewide contest.

Middle schooler Mazie Boyd was surprised at her school by Google with the award, and now, she’s entered into a contest to win the national award which carries with it a scholarship prize. Mazie said this drawing is just one way she wants to express her love for furry four legged creatures.

“I just went with all dog themed and I just love, have always loved dogs and I wanted to open a shelter of my own and make sure more shelters were no kill shelters,” Mazie Boyd said.

Mazie’s parents, Jason and Dawn, said art is nothing new for Mazie.

“It really makes us proud. She’s got such a talent for it, at a very early age, we could tell that she had a talent for art,” Jason Boyd said. “She was consistently putting out stuff that I couldn’t touch on my best day when she was probably, six, seven, eight years old, something like that.”

Mazie’s art teacher, Trish Hinrichs, said she’s been happy to watch Mazie grow in her talent.

“This is a huge honor for her, and I love seeing my students accomplish something, something this big, and I’m pretty proud of her,” Hinrichs said.
