BJ’s CEO, Tim Hortons China, Yelp sues Google

BJ’s Restaurants CEO Greg Levin is stepping down. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Brad Richmond, a BJ’s board member and a former CFO of Darden Restaurants.

China continues to be a problem for Tim Hortons. Same-store sales fell 13.8% at Tims China last quarter as the company dealt with an intensifying competitive environment in the country.

KFC U.S. is undergoing another executive shakeup. Catherine Tan-Gillespie, who has served as president and general manager of KFC Canada since January 2022, has been named chief marketing officer and chief development officer for KFC U.S., effective immediately.

Heather Neary has big plans for Taco John’s. Since taking over as CEO in March, she has sharpened the chain’s focus on marketing, development, culture, technology, and unit-level economics, the last of which Neary said is the most important.

Yelp is suing Google, alleging that the search engine giant manipulates search results. The restaurant review site claimed that when consumers Google a local business, Google will prioritize its own content, such as reviews, maps and business pages, even if that content is of lower quality.
