In the bottom half of the quarterfinal bracket for the 2024-2025 Western Dakota Association (WDA) Boys Hockey Tournament on Thursday, February 20, four teams battled in two games for the chance to advance to the semifinal games today.

The third seeds from Bismarck had their hands full with the sixth seeds from Bottineau-Rugby in quarterfinal action on Thursday, February 20, in the last game of day one for the WDA tournament.
The Legacy Sabers outshot the Braves 27-16 with goals in the first and third periods of play for the 2-0 win. The first score of the contest was just under one minute of play in the first and the seconds score was at the 16:42 mark of the third- close to the final minute of play.
The Sabers had one penalty in the first period of play and four in the second period compared to the Braves with only one penalty in the second period of play.
Bottineau-Rugby will play Williston at 1:15 p.m. in the consolation side of the tournament bracket while Legacy will face Bismarck Century in the second semifinal game today at 7:15 p.m.

The Patriots outshot the Coyotes 32-12 and scored one goal in the first, two in both the second and third periods to beat Williston in their quarterfinal matchup at the Maysa Arena on Thursday. The Coyotes scored one goal in the first and two in the third period but were unable to match the offensive firepower of Bismarck Century in the end.
Both teams had one penalty in the first period while the Patriots tallied two in the third to one for the Coyotes.
The Patriots move on to the second semifinal game today at 7:15 p.m. against cross town rival Legacy while Williston takes on Bottineau-Rugby in the consolation bracket at 1:15 p.m. today as well.
