LEWES – Beebe Healthcare has maintained its status as a top Delaware hospital according to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospital rankings.

Driving the regional ranking was the seven “High Performing” specialty areas for procedures and conditions, including COPD, colon cancer surgery, heart attack, hip replacement, knee replacement, lung cancer surgery, and pneumonia.

In 11 other care areas, Beebe met the national standard of 5,000-plus hospitals that were evaluated across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Not all hospitals are eligible for evaluation in all areas.

“We are very pleased to have maintained our status as one of Delaware’s best hospitals by being recognized as high performing or at the national standard in many areas that are core to being a modern, community nonprofit healthcare system,” David A. Tam, MD, MBA, CPHE, FACHE, president & CEO, Beebe Healthcare, said. “It’s a testament to our commitment to compassionate care that is led by our doctors, nurses, advanced practice clinicians, clinical staff, and many others who are laser-focused on quality and safety.”

U.S. News says that a “Best Regional Hospital” offers a full range of services and must perform at a high level in a variety of common procedures and conditions in order to warrant recognition as one of the best hospitals in its state or metro area.

“There are many different scoring systems in healthcare today, and Beebe Healthcare works tirelessly to make sure patients have full confidence in the care we deliver,” Dr. Tam said. “At the core of our dedication to quality and safety is our devotion to our community and the relentless pursuit to ensure that everyone has access to the care they need close to home.”
