Games technology firm Beamable has raised $13.5 million in a series A funding round.

The firm said it will use the funds to develop and scale the Beamable Network, a Decentralised Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) for gaming.

Beamable aims to “redefine” how backend infrastructure for games is built and also shift from centralised hyperscalers to a decentralised community-driven model.

Setting new standards

The firm added that its newly established Beamable Foundation will oversee open-source development and a tokenised protocol. It said the shift will provide developers with an alternative to traditional cloud providers.

Bitkraft Ventures led the round with participation from Arca, Advancit Capital, 2Punks, P2 Ventures, Solana Foundation, Scytale Digital, defy.vc, GrandBanks Capital, and Permit Ventures. The funding will also support continued innovation in game infrastructure.

“We believe Beamable is uniquely positioned to set a new standard for decentralised infrastructure in gaming,” said Bitkraft Ventures general partner Carlos Pereira.

“Its proven technology and built-in demand, combined with the disruptive potential of DePIN, represents an unparalleled opportunity for game developers across web2 and web3.”
