Known for its handmade bakery and classes, Batter & Mac in Menomonee Falls announced it is opening a second location this fall in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood.
Both the business and area residents expressed excitement about the news that Batter & Mac will be taking over the former Lakeside Bakery (and before that Canfora Bakery) at 1100 E. Oklahoma Ave. The Falls location at N89-W16750 Appleton Ave. will remain open.
The same menu as the first location will be brought to Bay View and will include cinnamon rolls, sweet or savory filled croissants, cookies and crookies (croissant with a chocolate chip cookie baked inside) and brownies. It will also sell hot ham and rolls on Sunday.
In addition, Batter & Mac will grow its menu to include “old customer favorite items to pay homage to Canfora.”
While the Menomonee Falls location offers classes, the Bay View location will not — at least in the beginning.
Batter & Mac also has a focus on giving back to the community. The business selects a different charity each month for fundraising, which has included JRs Pups and Stuff, Courage MKE and the fund that clears student lunch debt for kids in the School District of Menomonee Falls.
“We will be continuing that commitment to the community at our new space,” reads a Facebook post.
The business had been the focus of criticism in mid-May when it planned to host a drag storytime fundraiser for Courage MKE, but later canceled after reporting it had received threatening messages.
