Barbara Jane (Walbeck) Dutton, age 96, of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully Monday, November 4, 2024, in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 3,1928, the daughter of the late Anna (Bannister) Walbeck Green and Leonard Walbeck and later became alifetime resident of Dunkirk.

As a young woman Barbara Jane worked at the Van Raalte Company. She was active in the support of our soldiers and the support and honor of the sister city of Dunkerque, France. Her favorite role was of a devout wife and mother. She was the 1 supporter of her children, attending all their school events, watching them march in parades, cheering them on in sports, and spoiling them with homemade jellies, pickles, and cookies. She also loved to play cards, especially pinochle, with family and friends. She and her husband “Butch” traveled all over the USA with the Gallingers. The family will always carry her loving memory in their hearts.

Surviving Barbara Jane are her children: Cindy (Larry) Manning of West Palm Beach, Florida, Bonnie Meyer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Wende (William) Adamczak of Dunkirk, Sandra (Hugh) Abell of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Leonard Dutton of Rome, New York; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband: Elvin “Butch” Dutton; her sons: Elvin Charles and Timothy Brian Dutton; her grandsons: William Kent and Michael Andre Adamczak; her sister Patricia Miller Walbesser and brother Richard Green.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours at McGraw Kowal Funeral home in Dunkirk, NY on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 3 to 6 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk, NY on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10 AM, followed by Entombment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
